DISCUSSION POST #1

After viewing the video on BS in Healthcare Administration, I learned there are various career paths to choose from and different institutions a Healthcare Admin can operate in. To name a few, Care Coordinator, Account Manager, Practice Admin., and Case Manager are some of the jobs a Healthcare Admin can hold. Places to work include Pharmaceutical firms, biotech companies, educational organizations, state health departments and insurance organizations. While some agencies, such as nursing homes, may require a masters degree, a Healthcare Admin have a wide range of choices to choose from. No specific licensing is required for a Healthcare Administrator except to become a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator.

I can see myself working in this profession long term because the skills and traits required, such as integrity, empathy, honesty, leadership, self-discipline, excellent communicator to name a few, are skills and traits I possess. Another reason I can see this being a long-term career move is because I have worked in the healthcare field 4 years and I love it. I enjoy helping people as well as providing quality healthcare to patients, making sure they receive the best care. I have worked with patients directly and performed administrative duties, I am now ready to advance to management

This is a profession that I can see myself working in long term because there are many different jobs under the umbrella that you can do and different work environments out there. Healthcare Administration is definitely not a career that will get boring easily but a career where you can grow once in the door. The world is always in need of people for anything in medical. Its one of the biggest growing career fields ever.

you have to have skills and behavioral traits and communication skills, relationship management skills, leadership, plenty of knowledge of the Healthcare field, business skills, and being able to have the skills for implementing and applying the competencies as a Healthcare Administrator.
